Hello everybody and welcome another day here at the blog!
Today I’m gonna talk a little bit about my experience in this first week living alone, how I’ve been adapting and the activities that I’ve integrated to my daily habits as a solo girl. If you’re interested how its been until this moment keep reading… Welcome!

Funny picture of me at the temples
Since I started my process to travel to Thailand I knew that the way to independence was close and it was something that I actually was looking for a long time ago.
Actually, I think its been extremely easy for me because since I lived with my parents I learned to do a lot of things and I had the desire to do and learn things for my self.
In general because my parents are very independent themselves and also because they used to be working all the time so I got used to be alone since I was little.
For that and my seek for independence, living alone wasn’t something that intimidated me in any way, on the contrary I was excited to experience it. An emotion that increased when I arrived to the place I was going to stay because I didn’t have any idea of how it was going to be and I didn’t have any expectation because it was going to be free accommodation and it could be anything.
I saw in a brochure of the agency with which I came a photo in the benefits section of the program that said free accomodation where bunk beds were shown in a very small room and I fell twenty.
Although for many people it may be a somewhat old-fashioned place, not so luxurious, I know … For me it was much more than I expected, enough space and a kitchen, which is something I also hoped to learn and start doing when come, to learn and decide how to manage me in terms of money, food, shopping, serving, cooking, preparing for basic things that maybe if I always had meals or if I had not had the luck to have a kitchen maybe not I could have cultivated and learned in this year here even if I wanted to.
When I got there, I was not completely alone since I lived my first month with my roomie Micaela (I’ll do a post about my first experience living with a roomie) so the week of Friday the 22nd (the day Micaela left) to Friday February 1st has officially been my first month living completely alone!

The month of February I started to also use a budget (next post in budgets) for each of my expenses, I began to experience what it is to make purchases for myself and cook something or other but in reality do not plan anything as such since I also had to start acomplarme and learn about the change of currency, the cost of things and the different options available in stores and products.
This week I decided to start cleaning the room since having to pack and with all the movement that the departure of Micaela meant, the apartment was a little turned upside down.
Throw the garbage like bags that had been accumulating, wash sheets and towels, wash my own clothes that had come together, clean the cupboard and refrigerator among other things.
Now I tell you a little about my experience in different areas and specific aspects comparing how I had been living with my family and my roomie Micaela and how it has been living alone.
Sleeping alone
From literally the first day I arrived somehow I realized that I like to have a lot of light and air circulating in the room so the windows and closed curtains are not very attractive for me.
My first day I had some of the famous “jetlag” and Micaela had to get up to work at 6, I remember that she apologized to me for waking me up but in reality I was already awake at 4 o’clock only to wait for her to get up so as not to wake her up.
When I get up I get up to look for something to eat, I think I ate some pasta that prepared me to receive me the day before and I opened the windows to see the view I had.
We are very lucky that iSanook is such a beautiful and aesthetic hotel and that the view of the room is so beautiful in the mornings. In addition, birdsong usually awakens you if you are attentive.
Stop opening the windows and get up early I think for comfort and not to lift Micalea, I did not even think twice but being alone for the first time I started to open the window in the morning and in fact leave it open almost all the time.

View from my room’s window

It is a very nice thing to be able to sit down to breakfast with the natural light of the morning and the awakening of the city.
Also, at night something that I was already used to doing in Mexico was to sleep with music or some kind of meditation to relax or include positive messages for the next day, which I did not do for obvious reasons but living alone is easier.
Cooking alone
Because we have a kitchen, I can not do more than look for ways to learn new techniques and dishes. The hotel gives us a free meal a day and I have decided to go to collect to have that guaranteed food regardless of the time I work to save however I have insisted on learning even the basics and start being a little creative with the dishes that prepare
These are some of the dishes that I ate in the first days being alone.

I also decided to start the month right today and yesterday at Sam Yan Market for fruits and vegetables and at Tesco Lotus for grains and condiments that I can surely use to cook for months.

Cleaning and organization
When I arrived here I realized all the advantages of the apartment, kitchen with two burners, perfectly useful sink, refrigerator … Although we did not have many utensils the place and the furniture were perfect only that they were located in a not very practical way.
I started moving some things to see how it could flow better and I think I have found the best location although knowing me in a month or two maybe I will try to change things again. Now it is more than perfect.
Decorating
Since I arrived, especially in mid and early February I began to visualize the decoration of the place, although it is a place where I may not spend the rest of my life or a lot of time in general I like the idea of making any space something cozy and That feels like a home.
Quickly I began to include some things that would make it more cozy to live here, like 3 small silvers that I bought in Chatuchak Market for 50 Baht and some decorative lights for 100.

I definitely plan on getting more plants and I already have in my sights a hanging plant that I saw in a shop on the way to Siam Square …
I also plan to buy cushion covers with embroidery and traditional designs at MBK. They only sell the covers so I have to buy stuffing for pillows and I plan to visit China Town on my next day off for this and go in search of fabric to make two pairs of curtains, since the current ones are a bit dirty and sincerely turned off … We will give a 360 ° change to this place and surely for a very low price.
As part of the decoration but also as a hobby, for personal well-being and sincerely it is perfectly given here I have decided to have a small interior garden with the little plants that I got in Chatuchak and planting my own vegetables from what I’m buying as well as nearby plants that I will be acquiring.

It is very nice to arrive and feel that you have living beings waiting for you, when I arrive after a hot day and I see them sad when watering them they get up and it is a nice feeling besides that as I said, they are excellent decoration and I hope to eat and save in the purchase of some things like cilantro, lettuce, asparagus and so on.
Some others like pineapples are that I will not see them grow enough to eat them but they grow very easy and they are excellent company.
So far everything has been very good and through the months they will see the progress.
If you are interested in knowing anything specific about my budgets, food, how to grow plants or what kind of plants to grow, or any questions you have, let me know in the comments or on social networks!
If you got here, thank you so much for reading and see you next week!
